Cancun Fiesta Fresh

Growing up in Southern California, I have always been a huge fan of authentic Mexican food.  I love it all, tamales, chimichangas, tacos…and I have found that often times, the best Mexican food can pop up in the most unexpected places. When we moved to Kansas City in 2007, I knew that we weren’t going to be in a Mexican food hub, and I was right.  Imagine my surprise when we literally stumbled upon one of the best tacos I have ever met at Cancun Fiesta Fresh in Westport.  Let me tell you, it was love at first bite.

Hola.

Taste: 9

Presentation: 7

Originality: 5

Service: 7

Appearance: 5

Value: 7

Restrooms: Not sure if they have any?

Que Delicioso, Que Rico…

Taste: Mexican food is all about well-cooked meat and fresh homemade tortillas and Cancun got both of those spot on. I got the street tacos and devoured them, as did my husband and 3 year-old.

Presentation: Thoughtfully put together, a great combination of fresh and cooked, their presentation had a great balance that made me want to eat more.

Originality: Nothing too original about a taco stand.

Service: When I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and they were sweet with my 3 year-old. I asked the owner “what’s the best?” and he gave a big smile and said “everything.” I could tell right away that they put a lot of love and care into everything they prepare.

Appearance: It is in an awkward location and has that “hole in the wall,” feel to it. It is certainly a local favorite but won’t ever be a 5-star restaurant.

Value: You can get food “a la carte” for about $2.  A chimi or a burrito is around $6.  Combos are about $7.

Restrooms: n/a

I am hoping to eventually taste the entire menu.  Let us know when you try them out!
