Habanero’s- with pictures!

When the our beloved Maya’s Mexican Bistro died and went to restaurant heaven, we were looking for our next family-friendly Mexican spot.  Enter Habanero’s.  Tasty food, fun kid-friendly environment and great prices, we have now been to Habanero’s a handful of times and it is clearly a local favorite for the good folks in Lee’s Summit.

Tex-Mex here.

Pass the queso, por favor.

Taste: They do tex-mex very well.  On our most recent trip, we shared an order of “habey dip,” Kyle got the “Mexicali” dinner and I got the fajitas.  Everything came hot and perfectly seasoned.  The kids shared an order of “cactus dogs” with fries and unfortunately, it came to us cold.  They were very apologetic and brought us a fresh plate for them that was heated well.

Presentation: They are a little messy, to be honest.  Our table got a so crowed with all the plates, old soda cups and chip baskets that towards the end I felt like I was drowning in dishes.

Originality:  They try to keep things unique with their mounted airplane on the roof (what?!?) but other than that, it’s just another Mexican place.

Service:  Our last visit was on Cinco de Mayo and even though they were packed to the brim, we only had a 20 minute wait and the servers were very attentive.  I had to wait a little while to get a to-go bag, but other than that, the service shined.

Appearance: The restaurant is colorful and decorated with fresh indoor plants, pictures and the music is at a good volume.  A very fun place to be and the kids always discover something new.

Value: After everything was said and done (complimentary bottomless chips and salsa, queso dip, 2 entrees, one kids meal, tip), we only spend about 40 bucks.  Not bad for a family night out!

Restrooms: Phin had to go to the bathroom about 4 times.  They keep them clean and cute.
